Maple Sugar Day
Did you know that maple sugaring is an indigenous North American process that was taught to colonists by Native Americans? Join us to learn all about maple sugaring at Fruitlands! We will have tastings, a sugaring demonstration and will show you how to tap a tree. Educational materials are available to take home so you can tap your own trees and get involved in this great old New England tradition. Take a guided hike to our south gate maples where local sugarer, Jim Burns, has installed a modern tapping operation. We will also have educational displays to illustrate differences between Native American and colonist methods of sugarmaking.
There will be storytelling and a kids craft activity, too!
