Birding

Birders Welcome!

Fruitlands is an ideal location to go bird watching!

Fruitlands Museum sits on 210 acres of open fields and wooded trails. The trail system traverses a series of ecosystems including meadows, pine barrens, vernal pools all surrounded by native flora and fauna. The New Meadow and Old Meadow provide ideal locations for birders to observe a variety of birds year-round. The remaining forested acres of the Fruitlands property are no exception. Any birder, experienced or novice, can enjoy a leisurely walk through the meadows and trails while viewing dozens of different bird families and their allies. Our monthly guided bird walks regularly count dozens of species of birds nesting and passing through the Fruitalnds landscape!

Check at museum store if Artist-in-Residence Barry Van Dusen is onsite during your visit!

Upcoming guided bird walks: Saturday, July 10, at 6:30AM and July 24, at 7:00AM

Fruitlands Museum and the Brookline Bird Club are sponsoring two summer bird walks on the museum grounds let by local birder, Pat White.  Many birds will be singing or feeding their young.  Expect to walk about 2 miles on trails through meadow and woods with some steep sections.  Bring binoculars and insect repellant.

Program Fee: FREE
