Graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY, Alicia Dwyer had displayed her work in solo and group exhibitions since the 1980s. Her piece, Dryad Grove, is composed of metal bands with eyes painted on them, which are wrapped around tree trunks. In Greek mythology, Dryads were spirits who lived peacefully in the forests. Each Dryad had a particular tree over which she protected and her life was intertwined with that of the tree. The result is a grove of twenty Dryads that are ever watchful from their arbor dwelling.
